Join the Band

Slinfold Concert Band is always keen to hear from new people who would like to join the band.  We try to keep a balance of instruments across the sections of the band and we have vacancies for various instruments right now - please follow the link to our page 'We're currently recruiting...' to find out which instruments we're particularly looking for.

As a guide, players of Grade 4/5 standard can cope with most of our music.  We do not hold auditions so any brass and woodwind players are welcome to simply join us at our rehearsals.  Most players improve rapidly within a band environment and we are happy to talk to players who are less experienced, or who may not have played for a while.  Age is no barrier; in recent years we have had an eleven year old playing with us alongside an eighty year old!

Slinfold Village Hall with Slinfold Concert Band bannerWe rehearse every Tuesday evening at Slinfold Village Hall from 7:30pm until 9:30pm and have a fairly busy concert schedule for the rest of the year.  Rehearsals are always fun with plenty of banter and laughs alongside the music.  We play a wide variety of music including light classical, Big Band, music from film and stage and plenty more besides!

After the rehearsal many band members slip over the road to the local pub for some post-music refreshments and socialising!  On the whole, band members are a friendly bunch and we hold various social activities throughout the year.

If you want to join, or would like some more information please contact our Chairman Graham Timms at chairman@slinfoldconcertband.org or phone him on 01403 710015 for an informal chat.

Slinfold Concert Band welcomes able-bodied and disabled players alike.  Our rehearsals are held on the ground floor of Slinfold Village Hall which has good access, no steps or stairs and has disabled toilet facilities.  Our chairman Graham would be happy to discuss any particular requirements that prospective players may have.
